Classes follow school term dates

One trial lesson can be arranged without needing to commit to the full term fees. The trial lesson is billed at the regular lesson price.

Lessons take place at Gemma's home studio in Tootgarook on the Mornington Peninsula, featuring a beautiful Yamaha upright piano, plenty of natural light and a comfortable chair for parents to sit while their child has their lesson.

Lessons are tailored to suit student needs, goals and interests.

All levels from beginner to advanced and all ages are welcome.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe that everyone has a right to to experience music. Music offers a unique way for people to connect to one another, a platform for emotional expression, and creates infinite opportunities for self discovery and growth.

In my approach to teaching, I strive to design lessons that are based on my student's interests, goals and abilities. Creativity and play are key elements in my teaching style, with the aim to inspire and motivate students. I bring kindness and patience to every lesson allowing students to feel relaxed and confident in their playing/singing.

BIOGRAPHY
I have been teaching singing and piano for the past 7 years at primary schools, secondary schools, and my own home studio.
I completed my Bachelor of Music Performance (Jazz/Pop) at Monash University in 2012. I am currently completing my Masters of Music Therapy at The University of Melbourne.
​
I have performed extensively as a professional singer for the past decade. I am a long term member of Invenio Singers, an experimental choir made up of improvising singers led by renowned jazz singer/composer Gian Slater. I am also the leader and composer for Gemma Tully & The Thornbirds, a jazz-folk-poetry ensemble. I have sung on a number of albums including; Invenio's 'Clarion/Whisper', Barney Mcall's 'GRAFT', and GT&The Thornbirds self-titled EP. In September 2016 I released my debut album of original music 'A Sprig, A Spark.'
